Open for business
We are raising a pre-seed round.
Vindica Inc. builds Seneca: the learner-controlled measurement record between schools and learning products. Applications write observable evidence; authorized recipients read a scoped, auditable starting point. Teaching remains theirs. The record remains the learner’s.

Why now
Every transition throws the record away, and someone pays to rebuild it.
A learning product can know a student for years and still hand the next teacher a score—or nothing. The receiving school, tutor or application repeats the diagnostic, reconstructs the context and pays for another bespoke integration. AI is multiplying products and evidence faster than institutions can reconcile them.
- The average U.S. district accessed 2,982 distinct edtech tools in 2024–25. Instructure / LearnPlatform, 2025
- Students used 48 unique tools during the year; educators used 50. Each one collects another fragment of learning context. Instructure / LearnPlatform, 2025
- Existing standards move rosters, launches, grades, activities and credentials. None of them by itself supplies a learner-controlled longitudinal measurement state with item context, provenance and uncertainty.
The sector does not need another destination platform. It needs the layer between them.
The thesis
A record of the evidence—not a universal score.
A learning product writes the observable event and an item passport through the Seneca SDK. Seneca preserves the original evidence, source, assistance state and provenance, then labels every derived estimate by scope, calibration and uncertainty.
Today, a learner can authorize an application to read a minimized projection, export the learner’s own record and revoke application access. Guardian authorization, named-educator grants, correction workflows and institution-independent recovery are planned production work for this round. No outside product has completed a read yet.
Seneca standardizes what is known and how it is supported—not what should be taught next.
Clever is how the learner gets in. Seneca is the measurement record they bring with them.
The company, in facts
What exists today, stated plainly.
What the round buys
What $500k has to prove.
- Product. Two external integrations completing a production write, authorized cross-system read, correction, export and revocation.
- Evidence. A baseline onboarding-cost dataset and preregistered trial showing non-inferior measurement quality with materially less learner and staff effort.
- Commercial. Three paid design partners buying for the same reason, with implementation time falling between the first and third.
The round funds the measurement lead, engineering, pilots, governance and compliance work required to test one narrow business: whether the next system can establish trustworthy learning context without starting the learner over.
If portability does not reduce that burden, we will say it did not create a business.
