# Seneca Starter Kit: Sandbox Evaluation Terms

Version 0.1 · Vindica Inc.

<!-- DRAFT for Kevin and counsel to review before publishing. Remove this comment once approved. -->

These terms cover everything in the Seneca Starter Kit: code, schemas,
example files and documentation (together, "the Kit"). By downloading,
copying or running the Kit you agree to them. If you don't agree, don't
use the Kit.

## 1. What you may do

Vindica Inc. ("Vindica") gives you a limited, personal, non-exclusive,
non-transferable, revocable permission to download, run and modify the Kit
**only to evaluate a possible integration between your product and Seneca**,
and only:

- in a sandbox, test or development environment, never in production;
- with synthetic data that you made up, never with data about real
  learners, students, children or other people;
- inside your own organization, by people who need it for that evaluation.

## 2. What you may not do

You may not:

1. use the Kit, or anything made from it, in a production system or with
   real personal data;
2. copy, publish, share, sell, sublicense or otherwise distribute the Kit or
   a modified version of it outside your organization;
3. use the Kit to design, build, train, test or benchmark a product or
   service that offers learner records, learner-context exchange or a
   similar service that competes with Seneca;
4. try to work out how Seneca's services produce their readings,
   confidence or other outputs, or reverse engineer, probe or scrape any
   Seneca service;
5. present the Kit's formats as Seneca's production contract, or as a
   standard you may implement for others;
6. remove or change these terms or any notice in the Kit.

## 3. The formats are for teaching

The Kit's formats (seneca-starter-evidence, seneca-starter-record and
seneca-starter-context) exist to explain the flow. They are not Seneca's
production contract, and they may change or be withdrawn at any time. The
production integration format is shared only in a sandbox, under a
separate written agreement.

## 4. Ownership and feedback

Vindica owns the Kit and all rights in it. These terms give you no right to
Vindica's names, logos, trademarks, production contract, APIs or services.
If you send Vindica feedback or suggestions, Vindica may use them without
obligation to you.

## 5. No warranty, no liability

The Kit is provided "as is", without any warranty of any kind. To the
fullest extent the law allows, Vindica is not liable for any damage or
loss arising from the Kit or its use.

## 6. Ending

These terms end automatically if you break them, and Vindica may end them
at any time by notice. When they end, stop using the Kit and delete every
copy, including modified versions.
